Forming the Golden Triangle, Downtown Pittsburgh is bounded by the Monongahela and the Allegheny Rivers. Although many assume that Downtown is one region, it actually contains several sub-divisions: The Cultural District (along Penn and Liberty Avenue), The Shopping District (Fifth and Forbes Corridor), and The Historic District. Furthermore, residential areas are sprinkled throughout this robust and thriving area.
How do I get there?
Port Authority Buses constantly run inbound/outbound to Downtown. For Pitt students, you can hop on a plethora of buses: 61A, 61B, 61C, 61D, 71A, 71B, 71C, 71D. For those directionally challenged, plug in your location in Google Maps, and it will give you the time of the next bus and its respective route. The most popular route takes 5th Avenue inbound and veers onto 6th Avenue towards the Cultural District and eventually loops outbound towards 5th. Various T stations run throughout downtown. Taxis will also transport too!
The "main" streets of Downtown are Liberty Avenue, Penn Avenue, Fifth Avenue, and Forbes Avenue.
